About Svedbro Smide
Forging with History and Heart
Svedbro Smide is a family-owned forge in Gnarp, just off the E4 highway in northern Hälsingland, Sweden. Here, solid craftsmanship is combined with a strong commitment to quality, sustainability and functionality.
The company’s history dates back to the late 19th century. It was then that the blacksmith Gustav Tiderman established a water-powered forge in Svedbro, by the river Annån which runs along the road between Gnarp and Bergsjö, about ten kilometers from the village of Gränsfors. With water power as the driving force and a keen eye for detail, a craft began that would live on for generations.
Over more than 100 years, the knowledge of forging has been preserved and refined. From a simple smithy, Svedbro Smide has grown into a modern yet craft-based company where every product reflects tradition and professional pride. Manufacturing still takes place on a small scale, with a focus on durable materials, functional design and long service life.
Today, two products stand at the heart of our business: the Svedbro Wrecking Bar and the Tree Felling Jack Stalpen. The blue Wrecking Bar has become something of an icon in Swedish homes, workshops and construction sites, a tool you can rely on for decades. The Tree Felling Jack Stalpen is a robust and dependable tool that facilitates safe tree felling, even in demanding conditions.
We are proud of our heritage and equally proud of our future. With every Wrecking Bar and every Stalpen we produce, we aim to carry Swedish forging traditions forward with the same dedication that Gustav Tiderman once began with.
