We have walls!
24 June 2026
We are now entering the fourth week of construction on our new factory, and work is progressing at a rapid pace. All exterior walls are currently being erected, and the majority of the steel framework is already in place. Only two roof trusses remain before this stage of the project is completed.
The next steps in the construction process are to build the interior walls, complete the grouting beneath the steel columns, and install the roof. Once these stages are finished, preparations for pouring the concrete floor will begin.
You will also have the opportunity to get to know some of the fantastic team members who are on site and helping bring our new factory to life.
Our upcoming timber storage facility will provide approximately 830 square metres of storage space and have the capacity to hold around 300 tonnes of hickory. With this investment, we will soon be able to call ourselves Europe’s largest importer of this wood species.
All the best,
Patrik
What is Hickory?
Hickory (Carya) is a genus of trees in the walnut family, comprising 17 species native to North America, China, and Indochina. One of the species is the pecan hickory, which is sometimes referred to as American walnut.
Hickory is a dense hardwood known for its strength, toughness, durability, and ease of machining. Historically, it was widely used for golf club shafts. Today, most drumsticks are still made from hickory, as are the handles for our axes and knives.
Hickory is also commonly used for smoking and barbecuing, where it imparts a distinctive rich, smoky flavour to food.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The planning, and seeing it all come together successfully.
Are there any particular challenges with this project?
The space. It’s a tight site, and all the materials need to be managed and moved around efficiently. That’s where planning becomes especially important, making sure the construction process keeps moving forward without delays.
Are we on schedule?
Yes.
Are you familiar with our products?
Yes, they look fantastic! Well-designed, high-quality, and professional.
Had you heard of Gnarp before this project? And what do you think of it?
I had never heard of Gnarp before, but my first impression is that it’s a peaceful and pleasant village.
Finally, what are your plans for the summer holiday?
I’ll be spending the summer at my cottage, renovating it. I also plan to enjoy some sunshine and swimming, of course, and watch plenty of the FIFA World Cup. I’m hoping to fit in a trip to Norway as well and do some hiking in the mountains.
